Domestic violence is one of those issues that just doesn’t seem to go away. Shelters, hot-lines, awareness programs, and many laws aim to protect victims of domestic violence. But the issue persists – in every corner of the world. It can be discouraging and frustrating to try to help someone who continues to choose violence for their lives. What can we do when someone doesn’t reach out for help and protects their abuser?
I was that someone. I lived in an area with all sorts of resources, but I didn’t reach out until I was almost dead. The shelters, hot-lines, and laws are very important and necessary. Yet without a profound transformation of the victims’ thinking, true liberation is not possible.
I recently produced a short film about my journey from abuse to freedom. My journey from a tangled mind to a transformed mind, to put it more accurately. The 26 minute film is currently playing in Spanish and in English. Furthermore, it is being broadcast in over 40 countries through television, conferences, and the internet. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive, and I believe this film will be used to save lives and bring healing to many. My top 10 reasons to watch The Journey indicate the need is very real.
This message needs to be shared and I cannot do it alone. I would be so honored if you would take 26 minutes of your time to view the film. If it touches your life in any way, please share it. I believe the Spirit has something to say to you through this film even if you have not been affected by domestic violence. I know together we can make a difference. You never know who needs this message—most likely you know someone that you would never suspect is being abused.
