I Would Never Treat You Like That
Remember when he pressed his body into you and pushed you back into a corner last week when he got angry? I would never treat you like that. And when he exploded at you with rage over absolutely nothing right before your little one’s birthday party? Remember how everyone wondered why you were so out of it, while he went about entertaining the party guest like the father of the year? I would never treat you like that. You know how he doesn’t listen when you are crying to him and trying to explain how his behavior hurts you? And how he makes up excuses and minimizes and denies what he has done? I would never treat you like that. I know he is trying to frighten you on purpose when he throws things and I would never treat you like that. I hear the way he threatens you, and I wish that you knew that I would never treat you like that. I wonder who told you that this is okay with me? Because it isn’t, and I would never tell you that. The voice that is telling you to try harder, to be more submissive to keep him calm, and just keep hoping that things will get better, is not my voice.
My voice says…
I love you
My intentions toward you are always good because I am good
You can trust me
You do not deserve this
It is not your fault
What he is doing is evil in my sight
It is not my will for you to be abused
I can make a way out
Nothing is impossible for me
My voice says…
“Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” Song of Songs 2:10-13
If this does not speak to every person which has been hurt, I do not know what will. Great blog, Jenny.
Thank you for the encouragement. I pray the Holy Spirit will minister to women throughout the world through the words he gives me.
